Sunita Devi grew up watching her grandmother paint the walls of their home in Ranti village, Madhubani. Every marriage, birth, and festival was marked by paintings โ fish for prosperity, peacocks for beauty, lotus for purity. These weren't just decorations; they were prayers.
At 22, she began teaching other women in her village, believing that Madhubani art could provide economic independence to rural women. Today, her collective โ Mithila Kala Kendra โ trains over 50 women artisans and ships their work across the world.
